Wolfgangsee
With an area of 13 km², Wolfgangsee is one of the largest lakes in Salzkammergut. The lake stretches across the provinces of Salzburg and Upper Austria and is a popular destination for summer holidays. Bathing, boating, water sports, cycling, and hiking – are what the visitor is offered along almost endless leisure opportunities. Well-known towns, such as Strobl, St. Wolfgang, and St. Gilgen attract visitors with culinary delights and varied cultural events. The clear and clean lake is one of the last habitats of the protected pearlfish. The excellent water quality has been certified by the European Union.
